More exciting news today is the Project PSIO, a project to have a SD Card Adapter for the PS1, heres the details:
Project PlayStation Input Output (pronounced sigh-oh) is a project in development that will allow you to back up your PlayStation CD-ROM's and let you then play them directly off an SD card on the actual PlayStation 1 console.
We have also gone to the trouble of adding a PS1 Development section for the users who would like to program and share their work. This is basically a way of replacing the Yaroze server that Sony shutdown a few years ago, as well as preserving and providing a free and dependent backup of the SDK's, tools, manuals, code and much more that are impossible to now find.

In this post-Double Fine Kickstarter world, there's nothing more nostalgic than buying a game for a set price and then playing it immediately – unless that game is itself nostalgic, like, say, Psychonauts.
Next Tuesday, you'll have the opportunity to experience Raz's mental adventure in a new venue, when it is released on PS3 in North America as a PS2 Classic. This miracle of digital distribution is possible thanks to Double Fine's acquisition of the Psychonauts publishing rights last year.

Now a developer has posted on the Wiki Ps3 a method for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) Software Emulator on 3.55 without the dongle USB Cobra on all Ps3 Slim or Phat.
Use: - Replace the files in / dev_flash / downloaded by those in the archive-p3dwik ps2compatfiles.rar - Factory Service Mode Switch - Inserted the original PS2 - it starts the backups do not work. You compatibility 2.60 and all its bugs. PS2 Compat. flag All consoles have their hardware information. In GameOS you can call the syscall Lv2 393 (0x189) sys_sm_get_model for your information. Lv1/Hypervisor its in the repository nodes sc 0x5B lv1_get_repository_node Parameters with "sys", "hw", "config" usually have noded "sys.hw. config # 0 "or something. xmb and check if this Flag is 0, we get "This model of the PS3 system is not compatible with PlayStation 2 format software." Be careful as any transaction involving the flash console this operation has risks.

PCSX2 is a free PS2 emulator for the PC that has been in development since the year 2000 and managed to reach version 1.0 last week. As an emulator it's an impressive piece of work, boasting compatibility with over 73 percent of games, which is some 1,697 titles. It can offer up graphics beyond what the original hardware was capable of, achieving resolutions up to 4096 x 4096 with anti-aliasing and texture filtering. You can save games, record video as you play, use a range of controllers, and even adjust game speed if you so wish. Of course, you'll need a fast machine to run PS2 games at a decent speed, but the spec is still reasonable. It's recommended you have at least a Core 2 Duo running at 3.2GHz, or a Core i5 at 2.66GHz+. As for graphics cards, a GeForce 9600GT or Radeon HD 4750 is desirable."Grab it while it's hot (official binaries and source). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be packaged for any GNU/Linux distros (Debian has packages of the predecessor to PCSX2, PCSX: Reloaded which, naturally, emulated the Playstation).

Pokopom PSX Pad Plugin SVN r64 is compiled. A XInput input plugin for PSX/PS2 emulators, and as of r48 nullDC 1.0.4 too. Pokopom is a PSEmu Pro pad plugin that emulates a DualShock1 and DualShock2 controller for PS1 and PS2 emulators respectively. It only uses XInput, so as to avoid the DirectInput troubles with X360 controllers.
Pokopom PSX Pad Plugin function
- Supports rumble, with a nice custom curve.
- Extended analog sticks range on corners. (for games like Ape Escape)
- Guitar build for XInput Guitars on Guitar Hero games.

N64 rumble can now be toggled for a mempak with the BACK button.
When using the mempak, the Scroll Lock LED will be on.

It's a raw dump with the mempak extention (I think it might work as .mpk)
Also, now if you hold the Left Trigger, the face buttons become C-Buttons.
Useful in case you need to press opposite buttons simultaneously.
And... Y/B buttons are now A and B buttons too, respectively.

The developer of the Mac port of PCSX2, zedr0n, came back with a bang after some time of silence! He has released a new version of his 0.9.6 port of PCSX2 for Lion with some additional compatibility fixes. Here is what he had to say about it:I’m releasing a slightly updated version of pcsx2 0.9.6 – it should crash less because of the audio plugin. 0.9.7 is proving very difficult so no update for now.
From this version onwards this becomes a regular .dmg bundle with pcsx2.app separated from the required libraries package – which is still included in the dmg by default.
You can get it from Downloads or direct link – pcsx2.dmg
The package has been cleaned so that all libraries reside in /usr/local/pcsx2 and can be removed easily. The Uninstaller.pkg included in the dmg will do that for you.
Latest version of XQuartz and CG framework still required You can download the new version from our Mac Downloads section.
In addition, he released an early 0.9.7 alpha port. This version should be considered unstable and pre-beta but you can give it a try. Here is what was posted about this:And the day has come – I’m releasing a very early alpha version of 0.9.7 – it does play some games but you are advised to do a lot of save states.
I’m going to continue working on this so hopefully will get better as the time goes on.

The installer includes another mandatory package – WXWidgets.pkg which should be installed after Libraries.pkg. Note that Uninstaller.pkg is going to delete the whole install but otherwise 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 coexist well. You can get this one from the PCSX2 Mac homepage. Keep up the good work zedr0n

- Misc minor PSX emulation tweaks.
- Fixed PSX SPU emulation handling of illegal/excessive voice frequency values, fixes broken sound effects in "Tales of Phantasia", and other games.
- Added missing L3 and R3 buttons to PSX Dual Analog gamepad emulation.
- Improved Sega Genesis/Megadrive YM2612 emulation.

After almost 3 months of under cover preparation, I present you the new PCSX2 homepage! The last PCSX2.net redesign was done 7 years ago by CKemu and Falcon4ever and now it is my turn to update it
The new website is based on the latest Joomla! platform with a custom modified theme for PCSX2, and is no longer bound to our forum. It uses PHP, a new database for the compatibility list and jQuery for various new features.

PSXjin SVN r718 is released. PSXjin is a PSX emulator with Rerecording features using pcsx core. It is intended to be an evolution of the outdated pcsx-rr with a new SPU core.

After gathering some analog stick data I saw the corner cases where
always beyond the ideal circle, so I now extend only when that happens.
This means, almost no range is lost in order to reach the corners. =D
Also an extra check to stop vibration on pause.

Some guesswork at command 0x40, and some bugfix at command 0x4F. That
fixed some games not detecting the Dualshock2 controller. Also, fixed
the deadzone which was bugged.

New vibration curve, tested specially to feel nice on Chrono Cross's
intro. Also, a guitar build for X360 Guitar owners that wanna play
Guitar Hero in PCSX2. (really WIP)
1.8 - 2012-02-19
Vibration effects will last at least 150ms now to compensate for motor
delay. Makes some instant effects noticeable. And was about time to
change the version number. XD
1.7d - 2012-02-18
Follow up on the previous change, now the Scroll Lock led will be on
if either pad is with the analog mode on. If you try to switch it off
but cannot, that's because the pad is on lock mode.
